Who doesn’t know about Ella Fitzgerald, Etta
James, Billie Holiday and many more soul ladies that made music sounds like a
journey of everything a woman can feel. A journey of passion, love, hate (you know the ''man hate and they are all the same'' hate), fashion, disappointment, sorrow, tears, laughter, amazing nights,...
Every woman can find herself in their songs
and to tell you the truth that’s how I empower myself every time I think love
is not for me (little joke there). Songs that just cannot bring you down
but tells you the truth and that really touches your strong woman heart. How a woman really feels about her man, how she does
when she’s mad or when she just don’t want to hear about it.
Ella is on of my inspiration, just listening to
her great performance of One note Samba from 1969, WHAT ABOUT THAT?! That’s
what I call a talent, a voice, an entertainer, a charisma, a legend of jazz
music. And then she says ‘’that’s all folks!’’ AMAZING, just AMAZING! What I
like about Ella is that her voice is fabulous and right in any song she's singing, even Mas que nada – the way she sang it, no words for that!
And singers in that time had so much class
and confidence, every man was falling for them and every lady wanted to be them. Those for me are the real divas of the
music. Divas that thought us to be a lady, to respect yourself and to look our for them bitches (of course in a nicer, more elegant way).
People should stop for a minute, put some good old jazz on and relax
after a long day, maybe even swing a little bit with somebody. In this world
where everybody is rushing thru life and not enjoying it, music is always the
best way out. After a long day at work, University, school, whatever.. Jazz
music, a glass of wine and a sofa (plus if you have somebody you like/love with
u enjoying the moment-EVEN BETTER!)
Today I leave you with this classic,
Summertime by the great Ella
''Jazz washes away the dust of everyday life.'' - Art Blakey
